![]() ![]() ![]() I was seriously disappointed with Bran in Season 7. Bran is supposed to be the most important person in stopping the White Walkers - let him show people why! This would leave a sense of fear and hopelessness in our heroes as they would be in essence waiting for their impending doom. He was the only one that hadn't seen snow before for crying out loud! What should have happened is the idea should have been suggested, but then the wights would come and surround them on the island before anyone had chance to run off. Not only is he not familiar with his surroundings - he is not equipped for them. ![]() Gendry being the one to run back to the wall didn't make sense to me. He could have died a noble death protecting Daenerys from the dead, and it would have brought honour back to his family and house, dying beyond the wall like his father did before him. My choice for this would have been Jorah Mormont. ![]() While I don't believe a massive character like Jon or Daenerys should have died, I do believe a character of somewhat importance should have gone in order to really get viewers upset, angry and riled up for the war against the walkers in the final season. The three characters that died in this episode weren't really 'big' characters so to say, so the emotional impact didn't really hit viewers that hard. While this is only a small point (we did lose Thoros, Viserion and Benjen after all), I'm of the belief that at least one more person should have bit the bullet in this episode. At least one more person should have died. This would also further influence Jaime's decision to leave Cersei for Winterfell in the season finale.Ģ. And Daenerys would see Jaime trying to console her and see he's not the dishonourable Kingslayer she first thought. Jaime would see Daenerys risk her life for everyone and see her distraught after losing one of her dragons, and see that she's not this foreign monster that burned hundreds of his men alive because she's supposedly 'evil' and 'just like her father'. Also, this would lead to some pretty cool interactions between Jaime and Daenerys after the battle back at the wall. But, the main reason to take him would be that if the mission was to fail and they couldn't catch a wight, then Jaime, the only person who Cersei trusts, would be able to tell her what he saw. Plus he wouldn't be able to escape anywhere, as the land beyond the wall is open and freezing, so if Jaime was to run away he would more than likely get lost and freeze to death. If he died during the mission Daenerys wouldn't really care - he was the person who murdered her father and in effect put the killer blow into the Targaryen reign of the Seven Kingdoms. However, once the plan to go north of the wall and capture a wight had been agreed, sending Jaime along with the crew would have made perfect sense. Hell, Jamie could even have been directly used to tell Cersei about the armistice Daenerys had proposed. What would have made more sense would have been if Jaime was captured by Daenerys and held as a high-level prisoner, as she could use him to try and take King's Landing peacefully from Cersei. Somehow, Bronn managed to single-handily (pun intended) drag Jaime to dry land unseen, away from all the Dothraki that had just surrounded them. Jaime Lannister should have been part of the suicide squad.Īfter Bronn miraculously saved Jaime's life from Drogon's fire, he fell into the lake to drown - his armour pulling him to the floor of the lake. This post will not cover the Winterfell story line with Arya and Sansa, which in my opinion just wasn't great. So this post is going to highlight some of these issues in writing and how they could have been improved/avoided, as well as talking about improvements to the episode as a whole. However, what disappoints me about this episode is some of the glaring plot holes and bad writing not normally familiar with Game of Thrones. I for one fall in-between the two, as I love the interactions between many of the characters who are meeting for the first time, as well as watching in awe at some of the amazing action this episode contains. If you're a Game of Thrones fan you probably either love or hate Season 7 Episode 6: Beyond the Wall. ![]()
